Another who sees no sin in oathbreaking!!

This is an email I received this morning early. A nice start to the week!

My answer follows immediately and then the email itself. I have omitted the name of the writer.

It highlights the departure from the TRUTH of God that is sadly found in the ranks of the next generation of young Free presbyterians.

I cannot but blame the failure of our pulpits for such ignorance of God’s Word and the God-honoured stand of the Free Presbyterian Church in years past!

Here is cause for faithful believers to pray that the Lord will, in mercy, turn the tide!

Sincerely in Christ’s name,

Ivan Foster

My reply to the email below

And a very good morning to you, XXXXX  XXXXXX.

You say I don’t know you but I do now, as your name is given in your email address even though you leave it off your email letter.

You say you are a ‘Free Presbyterian’. I would correct you and inform you that you are of the ‘new breed’ of Free Presbyterians!

The purpose God brought the Free Presbyterian Church into existence back in 1951 was to EXPOSE AND PROTEST AGAINST the oath-breaking of the ministers and elders of the mainline churches.

Your write a lengthy diatribe against me is in DEFENCE of an incident which centred upon the breaking of a solemn oath taken by a FP minister but a few weeks before. That makes you anything but a Free Presbyterian!

You accuse me of using the internet to attack Mr Wilson. I merely used the same medium that he used when he, or a family member, posted a picture of him dancing on November 5th in complete defiance and breach of the oath he had taken before God on September 18th. (more…)

FP minister’s dancing defended by another FP minister

I received the following email on Saturday evening past, from a Free Presbyterian minister, criticising me for my article on Rev David Wilson dancing at his daughter’s wedding in breach of the vow he had taken before the Lord and His people just a few weeks earlier. See the original article here.

It is to be noticed that the writer did not in the least condemn the breaching by David Wilson of his ordination vow. It is also to be noted that this minister did not quote one verse of Scripture to support his view of the incident or his attack upon me.

His views I find almost as alarming as the actions of David Wilson. For that reason I am going to publish his letter without revealing his identity. I am challenging him to defend his defence of the wedding day incident and also his criticism of my article.

I am just hoping that he now thinks better of his folly. Sadly, I fear that there are others who think like him but they desire to remain hidden!

If ‘dancing’ is acceptable Christian behaviour, then Presbytery will have to change the vows used at the ordinations of ministers and elders and also its BOOK OF ORDER!

It will also have to apologise to the people of God generally for our Church imposing an unscriptural oath upon men for the last seventy two years and repent for misrepresenting the mind and will of God on this matter!

There is a verse in Proverbs which would need to be sincerely considered in this context.

“Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set,” Proverbs 22:28. The vow denouncing ‘dancing’ has been a landmark set by our ‘fathers’ as they felt guided by the Lord and we would need to be most careful in removing it!

There can be no defending of the casting aside of a vow taken by a minister or an elder before the Lord. If the vow was wrong, he should not have submitted to it. If it is right, then he should have kept his vow. (more…)

Is this the shameful state the Free Presbyterian Church has descended into!!!

There is a video of Rev David Wilson’s ordination service in the Martyrs Memorial Church and his answering the questions put to him on September 18th of this year, on the Martyrs Memorial FaceBook website. At 26 minutes and 30 seconds into that video, Mr Wilson may be heard answering the following question put to him by Rev John Greer, Clerk of Presbytery.

The question was:

Will you publicly expose and oppose the IMMORALITY AND SOCIAL VICES of this present evil world such as DRINKING, DANCING and GAMBLING and by example live righteously, soberly and godly before all men?

Mr Wilson is heard on the video swearing before the Lord that HE WILL ‘publicly expose and oppose the IMMORALITY AND SOCIAL VICES of this present evil world such as DRINKING, DANCING and GAMBLING’.

The BOOK of ORDER states this as one of the DISTINCTIVES OF THE FREE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF ULSTER

“Sanctified in Behaviour, requiring its members to lead godly lives in obedience to the Scriptures which call on God’s people to live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world. Testimonies of holiness and righteousness are vital to the life and witness of Christ’s Church in a world increasingly plagued by the pleasure crazes of this generation, such as drinking (as defined in 5.6c), DANCING and gambling.”

THIS IS THE SAME REV DAVID WILSON, SOME 50 DAYS LATER, WHO IS PICTURED DANCING AT THE WEDDING OF HIS DAUGHTER.

Is this publicly exposing and opposing ‘the IMMORALITY AND SOCIAL VICES of this present evil world such as DANCING’?

Are we witnessing the abandoning of the BOOK OF ORDER, so recently complied by Presbytery?

AM I WRONG IN BELIEVING THAT THIS IS A VIOLATION OF THE SOLEMN OATH MR WILSON SWORE BEFORE GOD AND HIS BRETHREN AT HIS ORDINATION ON THE 18TH SEPTEMBER 2023?
