The truthfulness of our statements regarding Rome and child abuse

A kind friend has sent the editor a link to an article printed in the ‘Boston Globe’ back in 2002.

That newspaper carried out a most extensive and damning exposure of the wicked behaviour of Roman Catholic priests in that city from its cardinal right down to the lower ranks.

The attached article highlights how that Romanism stands out amongst all religious groups, guilty of similar wickedness, as being the one with the greatest number of offences and the persistent tendency to deny and cover-up the offences. This has been true of Rome here in Ireland, north and south, again and again.

Some of the ‘Boston Globe’ articles are mounted on the Burning Bush and can be seen here.

The attached ‘Boston Globe’ pdf article shows that what I said in my article was absolutely accurate, and that despite the attack upon it by Claire Simpson of ‘The Irish News’, representatives of the abused victims’ organisation and a letter from the ‘Commissioner for survivors of institutional child abuse’, Fiona Ryan. A further revelation of the utter DUP sell-out

former ACC Alan McQuillan

A FURTHER REVELATION OF THE UTTER SELL-OUT THAT THE DUP EMBRACED IN ORDER TO GRASP SOME SEMBLANCE OF POLITICAL POWER

“Policing Board don’t see intelligence on IRA‘due to Sinn Fein plea’ says former top PSNI officer”

The following report appeared in yesterday’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’. It serves to show just how horrendous was the surrender to the Sinn Fein/IRA by the DUP in order to gain power back in 2007. It also exposed the readiness of the Ulster Unionist party, the Alliance Party and the Social Democratic and Labour Party, to go along with this shameful accommodation of those who engaged in terrorism and who came to political power by that means, despite the loud pronouncements of their adherence to the principles of democracy and law and order.

But when will the Ulster Protestant face-up to the fact that we were deceived back in 2007 and our hard-won heritage cast aside for a ‘morsel’ (Hebrews 12:16-17) of political ‘meat’ by those greedy for self-advancement.

In truth, as it was with Esau, there can be no recovery of our birthright and a return to the Ulster we once knew.

That is the price peoples and nations have ever paid for their refusal to heed the repeated warnings of treachery and betrayal for they were blinded for a time by the lies which painted the duplicity as a great gain!

Esau was satisfied with his ‘morsel’ for a time but soon became aware of the bad bargain he had made. Click to read more…

Reply to News letter attack

The following was printed in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’.

I replied, just a few minutes ago, to this very biased nonsense as follows.

Sir,

I think that I can claim that my observations on the scandal of institutional child abuse, condemned as they are by Commissioner Fiona Ryan in your newspaper today, were perfectly in keeping with what others saw and said! Click to read more…

Doug Beattie will ask party to decide on leadership

Doug Beattie will ask party to decide on leadership

Mr Beattie is quoted as saying that the controversial tweets at the centre of this row were “pretty horrific” and he was “deeply ashamed” of them.

Nothing he says can explain why it was that he thought it acceptable to make such despicable comments about a Christian mother. Nor can he possible explain why his first efforts at ‘apologising’ we so facile and shallow and very obviously insincere. It was only when his ‘barrack-room coarseness and boorishness’ was seen by him to have political repercussions, that he became humble and contrite!

His whole defence begs the question as how he ever thought that such comments could in any way be considered acceptable. He is of Boris Johnston’s ilk.  Failing to see what was so blatantly obvious to everyone else.

He is not fit to be an elected representative and most certain not fitted to be a party leader, even when that party is one given over to such a betrayal of morality and decency as the Ulster Unionist Party!

His present actions of asking his party what he should do is but another example of his moral barrenness!

Sincerely,
Ivan Foster

My replies to criticism of my article

There have been two responses to a letter of mine which appeared yesterday in the ‘Belfast Newsletter’. The letter was a synopsis of my article,  “Child abuse: Stormont ministers set March date for apology”.

One response is an article in today’s ‘Irish News’, written by one of its correspondents, Claire Simpson.

The other is a letter which appears in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’. It is from Margaret McGuckin, Denise Burke, Ron Graham and Alan Philips.

I have reproduced screenshots of both responses, sent by a kind friend, below.

In anticipation of just such a response, I had already penned an article and mounted it upon my ‘Burning Bush’ web page. The article is entitled, “A DEFENCE IN THE FACE OF AN EXPECTED ATTACK!”

I will briefly reply to both articles, beginning first of all with the following “Irish News” article. Click to read more…

A nurse goes on the attack!!

Amy Gallagher

“Christian nurse to sue mental health clinic over course that dubbed Bible ‘racist’” so read the headlines in today’s ‘Daily Express’.

The article states: “A NHS mental health clinic is facing legal action after running a course which branded the Bible and all white people ‘racist’.

Amy Gallagher is planning to sue the Portman Clinic in North London, part of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust, after she felt some of its courses contained religious and racial discrimination. Ms Gallagher – a Christian nurse – undertook the course during clinical training in psychotherapy.

The Christian nurse is currently trying to crowdfund £50,000 to pay for the legal action against the clinic.

“On what I’ve experienced, what they describe as anti-racism is racism. What they describe as tolerance is intolerance.

She began the Portman Clinic’s Forensic Psychodynamic Psychotherapy course in September 2020 with the aim of finishing clinical training that would qualify her to set up a psychotherapy practice.”

A defence in the face of an expected attack!

I can well believe that my article, on the main page of the current “Burning Bush” — “Child abuse: Stormont ministers set March date for apology” — will arouse bitter opposition, especially since an slightly edited version has appeared as a letter in the ‘Belfast Newsletter’ today, January 24th, even though the Editor of that newspaper saw fit to remove the last, very telling, sentence in my letter.

That sentence read: “They (the clerics and nuns of the Church of Rome) and they alone are to be publicly shamed for the vast majority of the wickedness of this deplorable episode that is but a repeat of what is recognised by historians as the ongoing dark practices of Rome!

My letter has been published on the same day as the local BBC news site carried the headline, quoting the words of former Chief Constable, Sir George Hamilton: Martin McGuinness acted ‘with integrity’ says former PSNI chief constable. Martin McGuinness was a self-confessed leader of the murdering terrorist organisation, the IRA. Just how one could classify a notorious terrorist as a person of ‘integrity’ defies logic and common gumption!

Yet this is the mind-set of so many people. They live in a world of sentimentality, engendered by the utterly deceitful modern philosophy emanating from the pulpits of the land. The prevailing notion is that to ignore the truth concerning the dreadful acts perpetrated by prominent public figures and embrace saccharine views of their persona, is a wholesome and ‘Christian’ thing to do! Child abuse: Stormont ministers set March date for apology

Here is the BBC’s article

If Paul Given does indeed offer an apology to those who suffered shameful treatment as children within homes supposedly established to look after them, he is linking the Unionist and Protestant people with horrific crimes carried out chiefly by Roman Catholic clerics and nuns within Roman Catholic institutions!

That is a step too far in the campaign of ‘mutuality’ pursued by Sinn Fein/IRA and the other pro-republican, anti-British parties that make up the majority in Stormont, and in which evil parade Unionists lamely limp along at the rear!

Let every condemnation be heaped on every wicked and guilty person and establishment, irrespective of their religious profession, but let not any Unionist representative give the impression that the Protestant people share in the guilt and shame of these terrible events.

Bible Protestantism has consistently protested against the evil system of Romanism and the inevitable corruption that the false and evilly pretended ‘celibacy’ of its clerics and nuns will breed.

They and they alone are to be publicly shamed for the vast majority of the wickedness of this deplorable episode that is but a repeat of what is recognised by historians as the ongoing dark practices of Rome!

Shameless and brazen hypocrisy of Michelle O'Neill

Under the commendatory headline:

Powerful moment Michelle O’Neill reads list of names of 23 murdered women

Sinn Feiner, Michelle O’Neill, was praised by the Belfast Telegraph when it posted the above headline in a report of her reading out the names of women murdered in Northern Ireland.

I am absolutely sure she did not read out, during her ‘powerful moment’, the names of the many women her compatriots in the IRA murdered, such as Mrs Bullock, shot alongside her UDR husband in their home in 1972 and the Faith Mission Pilgrim, Miss Sylvia Crowe, murdered by a bomb aimed at a UDR patrol, as she stood at a bus stop near Rosslea in 1979, to name but two of the very many female victims of Michelle O’Neill’s friends in the IRA!!

Sadly, I did not hear of any attention being drawn to her shameless and brazen hypocrisy by the Unionist members listening!

Ivan Foster.

Burning a candle for the dead - a pagan practice!!

The following report has appeared in ‘The Belfast Telegraph’ today. The scan below was sent to me this morning by a friend.

The headlines tell us that DUP First Minister, Paul Given, has not joined the Presbyterian Church but the picture tells us that he has adopted the Popish practice of lighting a candle for the dead!

Let me state here that we consider the murder of the young school teacher in Co Offaly, in the Republic of Ireland, as a most dreadful crime. We have every sympathy with her mother and father and the whole family circle in their unspeakable grief at the loss of a beautiful daughter just beginning her life, as it were. Click to read more…

30th Anniversary of Teebane Massacre

It is important never to forget the wickedness of those now in power in Stormont who achieve that ‘elevation’ via murder and terror and the sad and sickening betrayal by the DUP of every democratic principle when they entered a power-sharing arrangement with Sinn Fein/IRA back in 2007.

It seems very likely that as a result of that treachery by the DUP, Sinn Fein/IRA may become the largest party at Stormont following the next Assembly election and thus claim the position of ‘First Minister’!

One of the atrocities that brought Sinn Fein/IRA to power was the massacre of eight workmen at Teebane Cross on the Omagh/Cookstown Road, as they journey home in 1992. The reason for their murder? They were carrying out repair work in Lisanelly British Army base in Omagh!

For that they were slaughtered by the murdering fiends of the IRA. Click to read more…

UUP leader, Doug Beattie, attacks Jim Allister for asking a sensible question!!??

Doug Beattie

Doug Beattie, the Ulster Unionist Party leader, is so devoted to the silly notion of adding to his party by ‘slabbering on the green slippers of Irish Nationalism’ that he made the utterly bizarre attack upon Jim Allister, leader of the Traditional Unionist Voice as was reported in today’s “Belfast telegraph”.

Beattie claimed that the perfectly rational request from Mr Allister of the health Minister: “What precautions are in place to prevent citizens of the Republic of Ireland from availing of free Covid-19 testing kits and facilities in Northern Ireland” was “unfortunately divisive”, adding that he “simply cannot understand this nonsense”.

He tweeted: “I’d happily share with my neighbour, the same neighbour who sent ambulances & crews to help us fight Covid … or put up helicopters to help us fight bushfires.” Click to read more…

Pardons extended to all abolished same-sex crimes

Read the BBC  article here

Once again the news is focused on the rejection of God’s Law and the instigating of man’s immorality as the standard by which humans should live. Perversion is legalised and every effort made to remove all ignominy and opprobrium from those given over to all related depraved deviancy!

The above heading is taken from the BBC news item. In it is reported that “More people will be eligible for a pardon for historical criminal convictions relating to homosexual activity, the government has said. It means anyone convicted or cautioned for consensual homosexual activity, under now-abolished laws, can apply to have them ‘disregarded’. The convictions would be wiped from record and an automatic pardon given.”

We ask: “Pardoned by whom?” “Wiped out from what record?”

Most certainly not from Heaven’s record of man’s wickedness and again, no pardon is forthcoming from the God of Heaven! Click to read more…

The money men spend in their mad desire to disprove the Bible!!

This article was prompted by reports of the latest folly of so-called intelligent and educated men as they pursue their latest escapade in their rejection of revealed truth in the Word of God. At enormous cost a ‘telescope’, supposedly capable of seeing into the depths of space to a greater degree than ever before, has been launched.

Little, if anything, will come of this folly.

Sincerely in Christ,

Ivan Foster

Reply to pro-vaccine letter in today's Belfast Newsletter

The editor replies to a letter which was published in today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’.

The Editor’s reply:

In today’s ‘Belfast Newsletter’ (Declining a jab cannot return to life any child aborted in the 1970s), one ‘Dr Hardy’, ordained as an ‘evangelist’ in the Church of Ireland, argues that refusing the present Covid -19 vaccines on offer by the NHS, cannot restore life to any child aborted in the 1970s.

That is true, as true as the fact that punishing one who murdered a person or refusing to support the Sinn Fein Party, who politically benefitted from the murder of hundreds of innocent people, Roman Catholic and Protestant in recent times, will not bring back those slain, but yet the moral force behind such retaliatory views, based upon God’s Law (Genesis 9:6, Matthew 19:18) persuades thousands of people, Roman Catholic and Protestant, to embrace them as morally correct. Valneva claims its shot may tempt workers who are wary of vaccines

Right now the Covid-19 Valneva vaccine, which I understand was not produced or tested using foetal material from an aborted baby, is not available in the UK.

For some reason the UK government cancelled its order of this vaccine earlier this year.

This article reveals, I believe, the wonderful workings of God’s providence in this matter, with the possibility of an ethical vaccine becoming available to those who desire such.

Drugmaker Valneva woos NHS staff with Scottish Covid vaccine

Valneva claims its shot may tempt workers who are wary of vaccines

Sabah Meddings

December 25 2021, 6.00pm

David Lawrence, finance director of French vaccine producer Valneva, said that the firm would make its jab available to frontline workers ahead of an April deadline for all NHS employees to be vaccinated. “We believe, because we get messages every day, that there are people who would take a Covid vaccine when one like ours is available,” Lawrence said.

The Valneva jab, which uses an inactivated Covid virus, is based on traditional technology used in vaccines such as measles, and yellow fever. In Germany, a poll found that vaccine willingness would rise if vaccines were based on so-called “classical methods”. Click to read more…

Sarah Weddington died on the Sabbath past, (December 26th) aged 76.

Majority of NI health staff off sick with Covid jabbed and boosted, chief says

Would not the article below, taken from yesterday’s ‘Belfast Telegraph’, suggest that the present vaccines are anything but as effective as was at first claimed by the ‘experts’ and that anyone who thinks that being vaccinated is both a waste of money and of time, would have some grounds for thinking so??

The mouthings of two charlatans and rogues

Former PM Tony Blair

Today there appeared on the ‘Daily Mail’ news site two reported attacks upon those who were unvaccinated. Here are the headlines and the links to the articles.

Tony Blair labels anti-vaxxers ‘IDIOTS’: Ex-PM accuses people refusing jab of being beyond ‘irresponsible’ and says ‘blunt instrument’ of lockdown will not work again because ‘public has been through too much’

Jesus would get a vaccine, Archbishop of Canterbury suggests as he says getting the jab is ‘not about me and my rights to choose – it’s about how I love my neighbour’

As one of those who has refused the vaccinations presently administered by the NHS because they have been produced or tested on the foetal material of a baby aborted, murdered in order to conduct such tests and experimentation, I believe it immoral to murder the unborn and even more immoral to seek to safeguard my health at the cost of the murder of an innocent baby. On that basis I utterly reject both of these two criticisms. Click to read more…

Update on discussion of possible ethical COVID vaccine approval

I would like to remind you of what was written in the report of the meeting with Sir Michael McBride and senior members of his staff on Thursday16th on the subject of an ‘ethical vaccine’ for those who sincerely object to the use of foetal material from an aborted baby in the production/testing of the three vaccines presently offered by the NHS and which for this reason we refuse these vaccines.

“What was chiefly learned by the delegation was that the making available of ethical vaccines, presently in use in many European countries and endorsed by the World Health Organisation (WHO), simply put, depended upon the manufacturers of these vaccines applying for registration with the British authorities, and that being obtained, the vaccines would then be available throughout the UK. Ex-Provo contrasts ‘hooded men’ case with IRA brutality

A former IRA man has contrasted the legal saga of the ‘hooded men’ with the many unsolved extra-judicial slayings carried out by the Provos.

By Adam Kula

Friday, 17th December 2021, 8:00 am

Shane Paul O’Doherty, a republican bomber who went on to repent and embrace Christianity, was commenting in the wake of a decision by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, which effectively ordered the PSNI to further investigate the ill-treatment meted out to the ‘hooded men’ half a century ago.

The ‘hooded men’ refers to a 14-strong group who were detained by the security forces in 1971 after the introduction of internment and subjected to extremely harsh interrogations, including sleep deprivation and mock-executions.

This latest installment of their campaign has its roots in 2014, when RTE broadcast a documentary about their case that included reference to something called the ‘Rees Memo’ – a government communique that was said to refer to UK ministers sanctioning torture. Click to read more…

Report of meeting with Chief Medical Officer regarding the Covid-19 vaccine

Report of meeting with Sir Michael McBride, Chief Medical Officer for Northern Ireland , and senior members of his staff, via ‘ZOOM’ on Thursday, 16th December 2021.

A meeting had been requested with Health Department officials by some evangelical Christians some time ago, though the good auspices of Mr Jim Wells, MLA and former Health Minister in the Northern Ireland Assembly.

In attendance from the Department of Health were: Sir Michael McBride (Chief Medical Officer), Professor Ian Young (Chief Scientific Officer), Mr. Chris Garland (Chief Pharmaceutical Officer), Mr. Martin Coleman (Deputy Chief Pharmaceutical Officer), Mr. David Gordon (Chief Press Officer)

The members of the Christian delegation were Rev Brian McClung, minister of Newtownabbey Free Presbyterian Church, Rev Daniel Henderson of Moneyslane FPC, Mr Peter Johnston, an elder in Portadown Independent Methodist Church and Rev Ivan Foster, retired FPC minister.

I think it right to record that the delegation was received courteously and were encouraged by the fact that Sir Michael himself took part in the meeting even though we had expected to meet the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Chada. It seemed to indicate that there was a measure of recognition that the views of the Christian delegation were worthy of being noted. Click to read more…

The wilful blindness of men!

“And Pharaoh turned and went into his house, neither did he set his heart to this also,” Exodus 7:23.

As it was in Egypt at the time when God’s judgments began to fall upon that land as the run-up to the ‘Exodus’, the Lord’s delivering of His people and a bringing them on their way to the land promised of old to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, even so will it be again when the time comes for the Lord to fulfil His great promise to His elect people to return again to reign on the earth.

What happened in Egypt some 3500 years ago is instructive for us today for “all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come,” 1 Corinthians 10:11.

Of course, ungodly men do not see this to be so, but God’s people should ever see the Bible as a map upon which is wonderfully outlined not only God’s dealings with men and nations in the past but, foreshadowed in such dealings, a pattern for the future. Click to read more…

What is the Church? A message by Rev. Jonathan Creane

Yesterday morning in Kilskeery, Rev Jonathan Creane, minister of Convoy Free Presbyterian Church in Co. Donegal in the Irish Republic and minister in charge of Kilskeery congregation during its vacancy, preached a message entitled, “What is the Church?”.

It was a most edifying and encouraging message and I would like to share it with our readers. Click to read more…

Presbyterian minister faces sanctions over gay couple support

Here is a report from the BBC which serves to underscore just where the ‘professing Church’ is today! The state of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland is illustrative of the state of all those professing Christian churches who are part and parcel of the theologically liberal and ecumenical ‘empire’ scattered throughout the world.

I will state first of all that this report brings me some measure of comfort, as I am sure it will with all who love the Lord. It is good that there appears to be some within the ranks of the PCI who are ready to stand against the abominably wicked practice of sodomy.

However, I see that this happened in a congregation with a ‘female minister’! Where there is a departure from the ordinances of God, you will find a plunging downward into further odious pursuits! Here we have the abandoning of God’s order for the pulpit, as set forth in 1 Timothy 3. “‭This [is] a true‭ saying‭, If a man‭ desire‭‭ the office of a bishop‭, he desireth‭‭ a good‭ work‭.‭ ‭A bishop‭ then‭ must‭‭ be‭‭ blameless‭, the husband‭ of one‭ wife‭ . . .” verses 1-2.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬ Click to read more…

Thoughts on the history of professing Christianity, Part 8

We come to the final extract from Benjamin Wills Newton’s book, Prospects of the Ten Kingdoms, the chapter 6 — THOUGHTS ON THE HISTORY OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANITY, AS GIVEN IN THE PARABLES OF MATTHEW XIII.

I sincerely trust that you found his writings instructive and helpful. One dear reader has told me how that she reads the extracts over a number of times in order to grasp the full meaning of what is written. That is a wise course of action and one in which I engage also!

Here is Part 8, which covers pages 179-185.

If at the Reformation a few, by recognising that the elect Church was the “treasure” for which Christ died, and acting on that recognition gave thereby a new phase to Christianity and marked a fresh era in its history, would not a similar recognition of these further truths, even within a comparatively narrow circle, produce a similar result? Would it not give a new aspect to Christianity in the earth? The mere fact of this parable respecting “the pearl” forming one of the links in this evidently connected chain, would lead us to expect that, before “the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven” conclude, there would be yet once more an interference of God on behalf of His neglected Truth, resulting in some of His people being caused to teach and to act according to the principles illustrated by “the pearl.” This, indeed, is what other parts of Scripture would lead us to expect. We read in the Book of Revelation of some who are said to “keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus,” at the very moment of the Church’s last trial; and their faithfulness is such that it is made the subject of thanksgiving, even in heaven. “They overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb, and because of the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives even unto death.” In Daniel also, some are mentioned who are expressly designated “the wise or understanding ones” at that same hour. “The wicked shall do wickedly, and none of the wicked shall understand, but the understanding ones shall understand.” Even then, as at the close of a day of tempest and gloom the sun sometimes struggles for a moment through the resisting clouds, and darts one parting ray of brightness over the troubled scene, so may we believe that it will be in this our dark dispensation of sorrow and of failure. A testimony will for a short moment be given, raged against by Satan, crushed by the governments of the Roman earth,* Click to read more…

Ban on gay conversion therapy could outlaw us, say clerics

The following report is from “The Times” newspaper of December 3rd, 2021. A copy of the article was shared with me by a Christian friend.

I must state immediately that I have no sympathy for the process known as ‘Conversion Therapy’. From all reports it is anything but Biblical!

Rather, it is something that has emerged from that world of ‘humanistic philosophy’! One definition of it is given thus: “Conversion therapy is the pseudoscientific practice of attempting to change an individual’s sexual orientation from homosexual or bisexual to heterosexual using psychological, physical, or spiritual interventions.” I believe it correct to state that it had its origins quite some time ago when Albert von Schrenck-Notzing, a man fascinated by hypnotism and mysticism who also had links with Sigmund Freud. Letter to the editor: what is a true church?

This letter appeared in today’s “Irish News” and the screenshot of it was sent to me early this morning by a friend. I replied as followed and submitted my reply to that newspaper. Hopefully, they will print it.

Sincere regards,
Ivan Foster

Sir,

I wonder has your correspondent, Mr Brian O’Hare of Newry, (Letter – Catholic Church not a Christian Church) ever read the words of the Lord Jesus when He said:
“‭Enter ye in‭‭ at‭ the strait‭ gate‭: for‭ wide‭ [is] the gate‭, and‭ broad‭ [is] the way‭, that leadeth‭‭ to‭ destruction‭, and‭ many‭ there be‭‭ which‭ go in‭‭ thereat‭‭:‭ ‭because‭ strait‭ [is] the gate‭, and‭ narrow‭‭ [is] the way‭, which‭ leadeth‭‭ unto‭ life‭, and‭ few‭ there be‭‭ that find‭‭ it‭,‭” Matthew 7:13-14.

It is not popularity amongst mankind but conformity to the Word of God which identifies the true and false within Christendom. After all, Christ had very few to stand with Him at the cross!

It must never be forgotten that the Roman Catholic Church for centuries strictly forbade  the possession of a Bible and pronounced an anathema against any who violated this decree. (Council of Valencia, 1229 and repeated in the Council of Trent, 1545-63 and in other authoritative later pronouncements.) The banning of the Bible was part of Rome’s response to the Protestant Reformation and the Reformers’ urging of the people to read the Word of God in their mother tongue.

What a contrast such a decree is to what the Lord COMMANDED Israel!

“‭Hear‭‭, O Israel‭: The LORD‭ our God‭ [is] one‭ LORD‭:‭ ‭And thou shalt love‭‭ the LORD‭ thy God‭ with all thine heart‭, and with all thy soul‭, and with all thy might‭.‭ ‭And these words‭, which I command‭‭ thee this day‭, shall be in thine heart‭:‭ ‭and thou shalt teach them diligently‭‭ unto thy children‭, and shalt talk‭‭ of them when thou sittest‭‭ in thine house‭, and when thou walkest‭‭ by the way‭, and when thou liest down‭‭, and when thou risest up‭‭.‭ ‭And thou shalt bind‭‭ them for a sign‭ upon thine hand‭, and they shall be as frontlets‭ between thine eyes‭.‭ ‭And thou shalt write‭‭ them upon the posts‭ of thy house‭, and on thy gates‭,‭” Deuteronomy 6:4-9. Thoughts on the history of professing Christianity, Part 7

We continue with extracts from Benjamin Wills Newton’s book, Prospects of the Ten Kingdoms, the chapter 6 — THOUGHTS ON THE HISTORY OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANITY, AS GIVEN IN THE PARABLES OF MATTHEW XIII.

I would commend a close reading of these extracts for they deal with the very issue of ‘decay within Christendom’ that we see all around.

Here is Part 7, which covers pages 174-179.

It is plain from every sign around us, that we are living at a period of crisis, not only in the world’s but in the Church’s history. What then is to be done by those who fear God? Shall we forsake those blessed principles of Truth which Protestantism, under God’s own power, restored: or shall we rather cleave to them with ten-fold tenacity? Only, we must separate the precious from the vile. “If,” as was said to Jeremiah, who himself lived at a period when all things were out of course, “if thou wilt take forth the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my mouth.” If Protestantism at the Reformation failed to judge the primeval corruptions of Christianity — if, thinking only of the Woman and her evil, it forgot the sin of the Church in forsaking her lowliness, and becoming like the fair-spreading Tree — if it neglected to search into the prophetic word, and consequently remained in ignorance of all that Israel is to be, and of all that the nations are, then have we to avoid these quicksands. We have to carry our thoughts back over the long train of corruptions, until we reach the Apostles of our Lord and Saviour. We have to remember that the kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship, but not we-that neither the condition of Israel under the Law, nor of Israel in millennial rest, is to be the condition of Christianity now; and that the nations, symbolised by evil monsters, are in God’s sight, contrasted in. every possible sense with her who is the Bride of Christ, and who once occupied in the earth a position worthy of being represented by “candlesticks of gold.” Attention to those things would not only materially affect our practical position, but would lead us also to a right ” division” of the Scriptures, without which they can neither be interpreted nor applied aright. Hard times are coming!

This is a headline on today’s BBC news site: “Covid: Greece to fine over-60s who refuse Covid-19 vaccine”.

I was sent the link late (for me) last evening by a dear brother who is alive to these issues. His comment accompanying the link was: “Morally wrong. It is like the return of the Nazi regime trying to force experimental medicine on people.”

The three versions of the vaccine are indeed ‘experimental’. That is all too obvious in the ongoing updating of the ‘experts’ expectations of the effectiveness of the ‘jab’ and the ever increasing dosage required for it to work!

All pharmaceutical companies in the past have been vigorously regulated in order to ensure that only drugs that have  been thoroughly tested were issued for public use. The Covid-19 ‘jabs’ however, have been marketed after a very short period of verification and I believe that the increasingly reported deaths and physical and mental repercussions that have followed vaccination, in the experience of some, suggest very clearly that the vaccines are indeed ‘experimental’! Preparation for the 'Great Financial Genius'!!

“And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies,” Revelation 18:1-3.

The following is the introduction to an article I read in a newspaper just the other day.

“The China Evergrande Group is the second largest property developer in China by sales. It is ranked 122nd on the Fortune Global 500. It faces £221billion of debt, and one expert has claimed the company’s collapse could spark the fall of the financial system.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Dr Marco Metzler from Deutsche Marktscreening Agentur (DMSA), claimed the collapse of the Evergrande is the first domino of the eventual destruction of the world financial system. Due to the size of the property market, estimated at $55trillion (£40trillion), he claimed the collapse of China’s property market, will create a worse financial meltdown than what was seen in 2008.”

If what this man says turns out to be true and takes place, then I believe that we have a possible opportunity for a ‘rescue’ to be mounted by the one called the ‘Antichrist.

I have quoted the verses from Revelation 18 in order to show that Antichrist will, among other things, be an economic ‘whizz kid’, to use a modern idiom. The financial success that will take in those areas, over which one day he will rule, is seen in the lamentations of the merchants within his empire who howl at the destruction by God of the capital of that commercial and religious empire. Mr. Givan may hide but he cannot escape

Mr. Paul Givan

The following is a report from the ‘Belfast Telegraph’, 30th November, 2021.

The “Irish News” and the “BBC” carried similar reports in which there were a number of misleading statements made about myself. The “Irish News” reporter, when notified of them, kindly apologised for the errors and for calling me on the Lord’s Day for an interview. I await the BBC’s response!

This report from the ‘Belfast Telegraph’ serves to verify my condemnation of Mr Girvan’s actions in my statement on his attendance at the ecumenical service, published on 25th November and entitled: “Statement regarding Mr. Paul Givan’s attendance at Armagh service”. In it I said that Paul Givan, who was then a member of the Free Presbyterian Church, was wrong in his attendance at the service  The service was led by the leaders of the Roman Catholic church, the Presbyterian and Methodist churches and the Church of Ireland, deniers of God’s Word one and all! Dr. Paul Ferguson - The Death of Moses

On November 28, 2021, Kilskeery FPC had a visit from Dr Paul Ferguson, son of Rev Gordon Ferguson. Dr Ferguson is the minister of Cornerstone Church, Singapore. It is a Presbyterian and Reformed and separated Church.

The Ferguson family have long links with the Free Presbyterian Church of Ulster, dating back to the late 1960s when family members (the family home was some 7 miles away) started attending Lisbellaw FPC.

Dr Ferguson preached two wonderful sermons during his visit to Kilskeery. The morning message was titled ‘The death of Moses - the end of an era’.

It was received with thanksgiving by the flock and was so appropriate in its application to all.

Unknown to any of us at the start of the service was the sad news of the happy home call of Mrs Ivy Hunter, a beloved sister of our senior elder, Mr Jackie Neville.

Mrs Hunter was saved and unexpectedly she passed away in her sleep in the early hours of the Sabbath. She was 89 years old and was saved many years ago.

How appropriate was the message for a grieving brother!

I know that you will enjoy and benefit from what I consider one of the best sermons I have heard for quite some time.

Rev. Ivan Foster

Portstewart: Seawall scripture 'may breach equality rules’

I cannot forbear drawing this matter, which I have just become aware of, to your attention that you might make it a matter of prayer and protest, if you live in the area mentioned.

This BBC headline is most shameful and indicates how ‘politically correctness’ has taken the place of the commands of God as the rule of life and behaviour.

New facts about the vaccine

Here is a link to a very disturbing article in “Christian Watch”. The introduction to the article states:

“Disturbing data from the Office for National Statistics reveal that deaths from all causes of those vaccinated in the 10-59 age group are running at around twice those among their unvaccinated age-mates. At the same time, unexplained excess deaths are higher than normal. What is going on? Are the vaccines themselves killing previously healthy people? You won’t find this story in the mainstream media.”

Here is the link to that article.

It is but further evidence of God’s hand of judgment upon the land and is NOT evidence of some man-made conspiracy, so fondly promoted by some foolish people who care nothing for what the Bible says on such matters!

Sincerely in our Saviour’s name,

Ivan Foster

In recognising this, they recognised the principle on which Christ had ever acted. The parable speaks of  “treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.” The outward professing body was not “the treasure” for which Christ resigned all in order to buy both it and the spot in which it was hidden-that is, this earth. “The treasure” which He valued were His elect — His own believing people to whom alone the holy name and standing of the Church properly pertained. This was the principle of Christ; and the real strength of the Protestant Reformation was in cleaving to this principle, and practically giving it effect. It was the true power of its earlier testimony; and whenever in later times the distinction between the elect Church and the corrupt professing body has been faithfully recognised, there has seldom been wanting a measure of the Divine blessing.* Click to read more…

A heart-breaking report

little Arthur Labinjo-Hughes

“Nobody loves me” — the heart-rending cry of a little boy!

One of the most tragic reports, of which there are ever so many in these wicked days, appeared in a number of news reports in very recent days. Accompanying the report was a video taken from the babycam in the little one’s bedroom which shows the poor wee child crying and lamenting that ‘no one loves me’.

Harrowing baby-cam footage at trial

When I watched the video and every time I think of it since, my heart has ached and melted for that poor little boy, wee Arthur Labinjo-Hughes, 6.

The video is actually of him but hours before he was murdered. Thomas Hughes, 29, and Emma Tustin, 32, are accused of killing the young boy at their home in Solihull, West Mids.

When I related the story to the children in Kilskeery Christian School yesterday, as an illustration of what happens in a nation that turns its back on the gospel, unsurprisingly there were tears amongst the children!

My heart grieves for the sufferings this child endured. How good it would have been to be able to tell him, ‘Yes there is someone Who loves you. The Lord Jesus loves you.’ Click to read more…

A most persistent plague? Heaven's continuing frown!

Despite the many repeated, boastful pronouncements by government ministers, the ‘demise’ of Covid-19 is NOT about to happen.

Instead, if we carefully read ‘between the lines’ we will find there that there is something very ‘supernatural about this plague!

I believe, with many other Christians, that it is a judgment sent of God upon nations that have openly defied and departed from His truth. As such, no measure taken by men will overcome it!

The Egyptians may have found some measure of comfort by the ‘power’ displayed by the magicians during the first judgment God sent upon Egypt (Exodus 7:22) but that comfort was short lived as God’s judgment intensified.

There has been no addressing or acknowledging of the anger of God toward our land because of its sin. Therefore the plague must inevitably continue. Click to read more…

A case of misquoting the Lord and of misdirecting men

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane [and] vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness,” 2 Timothy 2:15-16.

The phrase ‘rightly dividing the word of truth’ simply means ‘to make straight and smooth, to handle aright, to teach the truth directly and correctly’. Paul refers to a ‘workman’ and it is reasonable to think that when he is directed of the Spirit of God to use a phrase that carries the meaning embodied in the Greek term, that a workman such as a carpenter or stone mason is in the mind of the apostle. My father, who was a carpenter, so often told me when I was but a lad and attempting to help him in some task: ‘measure twice and cut once!’. No one needs to heed such counsel more than one who opens his mouth to pronounce the Word of God and apply it to the hearts and minds of men.

It is easy to misapply God’s Word and thereby misrepresent the meaning of it and thus mislead and misdirect men!

I am saddened to note that such was the outcome of the words spoken by Mr Paul Givan, the First Minister in a speech he made recently in the Stormont Assembly.

A video of part of that speech has been mounted on Facebook and a copy has been circulating. It was sent to me by two friends who were asking my opinion of the words of Mr Givan for they felt that his actions did not ring true.

They are correct. Click to read more…

KICS - Tribute to Mr George McConnell, Kilkeel

Mr. George McConnell

Today, we left aside our usual Bible study with the children in order to pay tribute to a friend of mine and also of Kilskeery Independent Christian School, Mr George McConnell of Kilkeel.

Locally and throughout the Free Church he was known as ‘Mountain Road George’ to distinguish him from a fellow elder Mr ‘Book’ George McConnell.

George McConnell went to be with the Lord in the early hours of the Sabbath past.

He has entered into his eternal rest, having laid aside life’s labours.

Artificial intelligence - the beginning of Antichrist??

“ . . . and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God,” 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4.

The Lord Jesus was most willing to answer the enquiries of the apostles when they asked: “Tell us, when shall these things be? and what [shall be] the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?” However, it is to be noted that He began His response with these solemn words: “Take heed that no man deceive you,” Matthew 24:4.

There are few portions of God’s Word which have been more systematically subjected to attempts to distort and twist them than their teaching on the return of Christ. Men’s notions have been widely embraced by Christians with scant regard to what the Bible says. When discussing the matter with them you will be told, ‘Rev. So and So says this’ or ‘Pastor So and So said that’!

There are but a few who follow the example of the Bereans. “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so,” Acts 17:11.

Oh how many have neglected to have ‘searched the scriptures’ to test out thereby what men said about the return of Christ. Paul had to say to the church of Thessalonica: “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and [by] our gathering together unto him, that ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand,” 2 Thessalonians 2:1-2. Even mere years after the beginning of the apostolic age, error was emerging about this wonderful subject.

Well, over the two millennia that have followed, the errors have multiplied despite such warning as that of the Saviour. Click to read more…

The parables of our Lord are addressed chiefly to conscience. If our consciences are perverted we shall either give no heed to the instruction, or else mistake, and probably, reverse the meaning. For example, he who conceives the honour and dignity of this present age to be according to God, and therefore well suited for His Church, will be sure to find in the parable of the “mustard seed” an encouragement to aspire after worldly greatness. He who admires the present condition and influence of professing Christianity, will not be hindered by the mere circumstance of leaven being uniformly used in the Scripture as the type of evil, from interpreting it as the symbol of the diffusiveness and diffusion of good. Parables, if they do not enlighten, blind.* Click to read more…

Putting away the evil of the day

Nehemiah rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem

“Ye that put far away the evil day,” Amos 6:3.

Today, I read Amos chapter three as part of my daily reading. I follow the Robert Murray M‘Cheyne’s Bible Reading Calendar, a wonderful aid to a proper reading and systematic of God’s Word which I recommend to all. It can be easily obtained as a ‘down load’ from the internet.

The chapter begins with those familiar words: “Woe to them [that are] at ease in Zion,” Amos 6:1. As I read them I could not help but think that is what afflicts us all today! There is a spirit of ‘ease’ amongst us when the very opposite ought to be the case. I always think of Nehemiah when I think of these words.

“The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace, that Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and [certain] men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem. And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province [are] in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also [is] broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire. And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned [certain] days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,” Nehemiah 1:1-4.

Without imputing any fault to Nehemiah, it is obvious that he had his state of mind and heart altered due to the report by his brother Hanani of the state of the remnant of the Jews still in Jerusalem and the condition of the city. He later explained his crestfallen state to Artaxerxes the king in the following words: “Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, [lieth] waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?” Nehemiah 2:3. The abominable state of national religion

“A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means;

and my people love [to have it] so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”

Jeremiah 5:30-31.

Three items of news press upon the Christian the extent of our nation’s rebellion against God.

The first is the report on the BBC news site with the headline: Gay couple receive landmark Church in Wales blessing”.

Fabiano Da Silva Duarte, left, and ‘Father’ Lee Taylor were blessed by the Bishop of St Asaph, Gregory Cameron.

As may be seen in the above picture, one is a ‘cleric’. He is a former ‘bar man’ who is originally from Bolton and is now the ‘vicar’ at St Collen’s Church in Llangollen, North Wales. He and his ‘partner’, Fabiano Da Silva Duarte, have become what is thought to be the first same-sex couple to be officially blessed by the Church in Wales. Click to read more…

“It hasn’t gone away you know!!”

Infamous words were spoken by Gerry Adams of his fellow IRA terrorists in the IRA, back in March 2011, at a Republican rally in Belfast. He said, “They haven’t gone away you know!!”

Some 10 years on, we can rejoice that his words are no longer true, irrespective of how true they were back then! Martin McGuinness is gone; Bobby Storey is gone, and so too is a myriad of other murderers whose passing took place with little publicity.

‘Where have they gone?’ I believe that if they died as they lived then each one went, as did Judas, “‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭‭to‭ his own‭ place‭,‭” Acts 1:25. The Bible teaches that “‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬The fearful‭, and‭ unbelieving‭, and‭ the abominable‭‭, and‭ murderers‭, and‭ whoremongers‭, and‭ sorcerers‭, and‭ idolaters‭, and‭ all‭ liars‭, shall have their‭ part‭ in‭ the lake‭ which‭ burneth‭‭ with fire‭ and‭ brimstone‭: which is‭‭ the second‭ death‭,‭” Revelation 21:8. Such a dreadful truth should make you tremble for the follies of men that caused them to reap such a terrible eternity and humbly bow before God and thank Him for His mercy in delivering us from such wickedness!‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Having said that, I wish to alter Adams’ statement by replacing two words and apply the amended statement to the Covid-19 virus which abounds in the world today. We can say with alarm: “It hasn’t gone away you know!!”

The statement is true despite the activities of men and manufacturers, propagandists and the ‘human ostriches’ who stick their heads in the sand and refuse to see the obvious. Evidence of that may be seen in the mounting infection rate throughout the United Kingdom and further afield. Click to read more…

Anniversary of Rev Robert Bradford and Kenneth Campbell murders

Rev Robert Bradford

ANNIVERSARY OF REV ROBERT BRADFORD AND KENNETH CAMPBELL MURDERS: ‘IRA’S BRUTAL CRIMES CAN’T BE WHITEWASHED’

On the 40th anniversary of the brutal IRA murder of an Ulster Unionist MP while he was carrying out constituency business, his party has said the republican terror organisation’s horrific crimes cannot be whitewashed from history.

The words of Ulster Unionist Party leader Doug Beattie are quoted large in this article and they are fine sounding. However, they prompt this one question:

IF THE IRA IS WHAT HE SAYS THEY ARE, AND WITH THAT WE WOULD AGREE, WHY IS HE AND HIS PARTY EVER SO READY TO CO-OPERATE WITH THE IRA PARTY AT STORMONT AND, IF THEY COULD, ENTER GOVERNMENT AS THEIR PARTNERS?? Click to read more…

Thoughts on the history of professing Christianity, Part 4

We continue with extracts from Benjamin Wills Newton’s book, Prospects of the Ten Kingdoms, the chapter 6 — THOUGHTS ON THE HISTORY OF PROFESSING CHRISTIANITY, AS GIVEN IN THE PARABLES OF MATTHEW XIII.

I would commend a close reading of these extracts for they deal with the very issue of ‘decay within Christendom’ that we see all around.

Here is Part 4, which covers pages 160-165.

But it may be asked, Why should not the “mustard seed” grow ? Does it not in growing, merely fulfil the law of its nature? Why then may not the Church, which like its Master is well suited to rule, and to rule supremely, why should it not rise into greatness here? The answer is, Because of the character of this present age. So long as it pleases God to permit that Satan should continue the “prince of this world;” “the ruler of the darkness of this present age,” so long must it be true that Christ’s kingdom “is not from hence,” and therefore abasement, not “the reigning as kings,” must now be the characteristics of His servants on the earth. It is a question of time. Accordingly, every principle given to the Church in its present standing below, must necessarily check its growth as to all that could promote its exaltation in the earth. The taking up our cross daily and so losing our lives in this world, the spending and being spent for others, the following Jesus of Nazareth, are principles sufficient to deprive the Church, while it adheres to them, of all governmental influence now. Besides which, the active agency of Satan is against those who really cleave to the Truth of Christ. No wonder, therefore, that they should be blighted; no wonder· that in their measure, they · should be like Him, who, although He was indeed a tender plant, worthy of being cherished under every kindly influence, yet flourished not in the earth, but was “as a root out of a dry ground.” No plant that remains in the spot where God’s Truth would keep it, can flourish here. The nourishment that God gives is for the new creation-heavenly, and not of earth. If therefore it do flourish here, it can only be by having been transplanted into other circumstances, where “the prince of this world” can foster and direct its growth, and use it when grown, for his own purposes of evil. Some comments on a horrifying report!

I have just read (11.00 am) the headlines of an article in the “Belfast Telegraph” entitled: ‘David Tweed’s daughters reveal the ‘monster’ he really was after years of sexual abuse at hands of late rugby star father’.

David Tweed was buried out of Hebron Free Presbyterian Church where he was reported to be a member. He was accepted there as a professing Christian.

It must be stated that a sinner, guilty of the most horrific wickedness may receive forgiveness and mercy from the Lord upon repentance and faith in the atoning work of Christ on the cross.

That is made plain in such portions of God’s Word as 2 Chronicles 33:9-14.

“So Manasseh made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to err, [and] to do worse than the heathen, whom the LORD had destroyed before the children of Israel. And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken. Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh among the thorns, and bound him with fetters, and carried him to Babylon. And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he [was] God. Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side odidf Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.” Click to read more…

Preservation, Purification & Perdition

Greta Thunberg

A comment on the ongoing ‘Climate Change’ circus!

“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men,” 2 Peter 3:7

As ever, we turn to the Word of God for help and enlightenment and guidance on this vexing topic which is creating hysteria amongst rulers and rabble-rousers today!

It is a case of the ‘blind leading the blind’ and the ditch awaits them both! If ever there was an example of the utter folly of man we have it in this present controversy. Those who have their finger on the ’nuclear button’ are prepared to be led on this issue by the emotion-inflaming cries of a foul-mouthed impudent Swedish eighteen-year-old one, Greta Thunberg, spouting out the results of her being indoctrinated by evolutionary notions taught in her school and by those she deems as heroes, such as David Attenborough!

Tens of thousands of her devoted teenage acolytes and others who ought to know better, have taken to the streets on UK cities and elsewhere in raucous, and sometimes riotous, demonstrations of support for this bumptious youngster. Click to read more…

Admission of Irish Republic "defacto amnesty" given to IRA

former Irish Justice Minister Michael McDowell

Terror victim describes ‘breathtaking admission’ by ex-Irish Justice Minister of defacto amnesty given to IRA

A man whose Garda father was murdered by republicans says an admission by former Irish Justice Minister Michael McDowell that his government gave a de facto amnesty to the IRA was “a breathtaking admission”.

By Philip Bradfield – Belfast Newsletter.

Saturday, 6th November 2021, 6:30 am

Former Irish Justice Minister Michael McDowell said his government granted a de facto amnesty.

Dubliner Dr Finian Fallon was speaking after Mr McDowell wrote in the Irish Times this week that Sinn Fein needs to take a “reality check” on historic prosecutions of British soldiers in light of the immunity the IRA has been given on both sides of the border. Mr Fallon’s Garda father was murdered by republicans in a Dublin bank robbery in 1970. Click to read more…

The introduction of false professors greatly, of course, affected the appearance which the Church presented to the world. A field intermingled with tares cannot appear as one in which wheat only grows. The loveliness of its aspect must be gone. Nevertheless, the corporate standing of the Churches was not thereby forfeited. They were still regarded by the Lord as worthy of being represented before Him by their original and proper symbol — “candlesticks of gold.” The steadfastness even of individual saints, although endangered, was not necessarily destroyed by the approximation of evil, however near. Neither was the executive agency of the Churches necessarily perverted ; and· it is by the acts of its executive that the character of every corporate body is determined. Holy discipline might have been exercised. Click to read more…

The real problem of 'Global Warming'

One verse (among many) which highlights the foolishness of the unbelieving ‘climate change lobbyists’ and their claim that the world is in danger of extinction!

“But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men,”
2 Peter 3:7

Christian challenge to the leaders gathered at COP26 in Glasgow

This is a letter from the Public Questions, Religion & Morals Committee of the FREE CHURCH OF SCOTLAND (CONTINUING) to the leaders of the COP26 gathering in Glasgow.

Read the letter here.

In the letter our brethren challenge the propriety of the invitation given to the Pope to attend the conference  They supply multiple reasons why this invitation  should not have been issued.

It is likely that the Bible-based arguments will be dismissed by those to whom the letter was sent, but we commend the contents of the letter to our readers for the true character of popery needs ever to be borne in mind by God’s people.

Earlier today I penned these words to a friend regarding the Glasgow gathering. Click to read more…

A tribute paid to Mr Basil Dane

A TRIBUTE TO MR BASIL DANE by Rev Ivan Foster, his former minister before his retirement

Tributes were paid to two long time members of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church who recently went to be with the Lord.

This service, at which Rev Jonathan Creane preached, may be viewed here.

A TRIBUTE TO MR BASIL DANE

At his funeral service in Kilskeery FPC,  30th October, 2021.

“ His lord said unto him, Well done, [thou] good and faithful servant,” Matthew 25:21.

Faithfulness is a virtue we all here in Kilskeery would attribute to our brother Basil, now gone to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening past.

I first met Basil in 1968 when he started attending the meetings in Lisbellaw Free Presbyterian Church where I had been ordained and installed as minister back in April of that year. He had been to the Ulster Hall to hear Dr Paisley and then decided to check out the Lisbellaw meetings. He was not saved at that time but he later testified of the kindness shown to him as a stranger by my uncle, William Foster, who did ‘door duty’ in those days.

He attended for a short time and then in mid-September 1968, he sought the Lord and was saved. There are some of us who can still remember him, his boys and his little blond-haired daughter attending the meetings. Click to read more…

A tribute paid to Mrs Meta Thompson

A TRIBUTE TO MRS META THOMPSON by Rev Ivan Foster, her former minister before his retirement

Tributes were paid to two long time members of Kilskeery Free Presbyterian Church who recently went to be with the Lord.

This service, at which Rev Jonathan Creane preached, may be viewed here.

Kilskeery FPC, Lord’s Day evening, 31st October, 2021.

She went to be with the Lord 28th August 2021.

“She hath done what she could,” Mark 14:8.

Very few funeral services may truly be called ‘A Thanksgiving Service’! The Bible clearly says that the majority depart this scene of time having lived a life, which before God, is not one for which to praise the Lord since it was lived in defiance and disobedience of God’s Word. In this dark age there seems to be no understanding whatever of what Bible Christianity is. The most wicked are commonly deemed to have gone to heaven, irrespective of how they lived or what they believed. Click to read more…
