The glory days of Ian Paisley

Four years have passed since the death of Dr. Paisley and we are remounting an article that reminisces on the days of blessing in his ministry.

What a man of God dear Dr Paisley was in those days, which I consider his heyday, the zenith of his pulpit ministry. How faithfully he warned the people of God in Ulster and also in the United Kingdom and further afield, regarding the gathering clouds of ignorance which were the direct result of the apostasy in the so-called Protestant pulpits. The main ‘Protestant’ denominations in Ulster had, through their links with the ecumenical movement and involvement with the World Council of Churches, imbibed the modernistic notions and the unity with Rome delusions, propagated by the false prophets of 20th century ‘Christianity’! Read more

FIVE QUESTIONS WHICH SETTLE THE ‘SEPARATION’ DEBATE!

The Christian who believes in and practises ‘Biblical separation’ from those who reject the teaching of the Bible and those Christians who maintain fellowship with such rejectors, are labelled unloving, lacking in ‘Christian charity’ by their opponents!

But, as it was with Paul who likewise suffered such abuse from those whose wrongs and sins he rebuked, it is not the ‘separatist’ who lacks love but those who refuse to separate from evil.

Paul says to those who opposed him in Corinth, “O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged. Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels,” 2 Corinthians 6:11-12.

There was no ‘narrowness’ in Paul’s love for them but there was a definite ‘straightening’ of their hearts toward him. Read more

THE WORSHIP OF MOLECH

A picture of the State Education system!

“And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD,” Leviticus 18:21.

What I am about to say in this article will, I fear, annoy and anger some!

Those who feel displeased at what I say, may I just remind them all that the Lord Jesus in His first sermon recorded by Luke, so irked all of His hearers that they tried to murder Him! “And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. But he passing through the midst of them went his way,” Luke 4:28-30. I am sure that I will not vex all who read this article but I am anxious to appeal to those who may be upset that they evaluate just what it that I have said that annoys them! Read more

“PERJURING PRELATES”

A message preached by Rev. Foster on September 5th, 1993.

Why there is a reluctance by many Church of Ireland clerics to affirm their belief in Article 31 of the 39 Articles of Religion.

“Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty,” Judges 5:23

The 39 Articles of Religion form the doctrinal basis of Anglicanism. They were first compiled in 1562, finally replacing the Articles compiled in the reign of Henry VIII. Henry’s Articles grew out of the confusion of doctrine that was being preached in the land at that time of reformation and upheaval. Henry sent a circular to all the bishops on 12th July 1536, forbidding all preaching until Michaelmas (September 29th) by which time articles of religion would be set down as a doctrinal guideline. The king himself drew up the articles which were duly agreed by both houses of the Anglican Convocation. They were anything but Biblical and were filled with popish superstition. Baptismal regeneration, transubstantiation, purgatory, prayers to saints, holy water, the sign of the cross, kissing the cross and images as part of worship were all sanctioned by Henry’s Articles. In 1552, Archbishop Cranmer and Bishop Ridley compiled 42 articles which, after an examination by bishops and learned men, were reviewed by Cranmer and Ridley and ratified by King Edward VII. These articles became the basis of the present 39 Articles. Read more and listen...

“WAR DECLARED!!”

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment,” John 16:8.

Mr Ronnie McLean, when preaching from Acts 1:8 on the subject of ‘The Infilling of the Holy Spirit’ in Kilskeery on the Lord’s Day morning, 9th September, in his introduction to his subject, referred to John 16:8.

As I looked it up I was struck by what is a declaration of war by the Holy Ghost against the spirit and ethos of this world in which we live.

Holy Ghost holiness is the very opposite to all that is in the world. This idea is totally alien to all those today who claim to enjoy the fulness of the Holy Spirit’s power and grace, but whose way of life is very evidently not opposed to the ways of the world!

The ‘worship’ services, the mode of dress, the general appearance and behaviour of the modern ‘Pentecostalist’ are utterly worldly. Far from a spirit of reverential fear of God in their services there is the air of a circus, a centre for worldly entertainment. This they decidedly promote. It is not something into which they have carelessly declined but rather pointedly advance and nurture! The ‘minister’ is attired in the most casual of clothing – usually jeans and an open neck shirt! There is little order observed during the ‘service’, with people going and coming and drinking coffee etc!

This they would have us know is “Holy Spirit Christianity”!! Read more

If this is not the case, why did she ‘regret’ being unable to attend? Why did she not plainly say that she would not attend any gathering honouring the head of the organisation, the chief ordinance of which is spoken of as ‘a blasphemous fable and a dangerous deceit’ by her own Church of Ireland historic standards?”

“The DUP has missed an opportunity by not meeting Pope Francis on his Irish visit this weekend.”

So ran the headline of an article in the Belfast Newsletter of Saturday 25th August, the day the pope landed in Dublin. It was written by Ben Lowry, the deputy editor of the newspaper.

In the article he states two reasons for the opinion set forth in the headline.

1. ‘As Christianity in the West slowly but relentlessly declines, some aggressive secular values are prevailing. The speed with which social policies have changed on issues such as same-sex marriage and abortion, and the almost hysterical way in which traditionalists are harangued on those topics, means that Christians at times seem almost to have been browbeaten into not really stating what they think on such important matters. Read more

The Lessons of the Omagh bomb

I was reminded of this message with the recent publicity surrounding the 20th anniversary of this dastardly act by dissident IRA terrorists.

Shamefully, no one has ever been convicted of the crime even though it appears to be well known who is guilty!

The message was prepared in the morning prayer meeting just before the morning service so you will have to forgive its short-comings!

Click here to listen and to read a statement issued at the time by the Free Presbyterian ministers in the area.

The following article was published in the Burning Bush at the time.

Irish Republicans Murder 28 in Omagh

The full horror of the IRA’s 30 years of murder by bomb and bullet, almost exclusively directed against the Protestant people in Northern Ireland, has been brought home to the Roman Catholic nationalist community by the horrific bombing in Omagh, Co. Tyrone, on Saturday 15th August. Read more

(Source: Protestant Revival website) …it has recently come to our attention that Groomsport Presbyterian Church, near Bangor in County Down, has offered its support to same-sex ‘marriage’ by cheerily celebrating the recent ‘wedding’ between a former intern ‘minister’ in the congregation and her ‘girlfriend’.

Ecumenical charismaniacs looking to Rome for revival at Nutts Corner

(Source: Protestant Revival website) The ongoing charismatic efforts to degrade the spiritual landscape in Ulster continues apace, and they will focus their efforts next month on an ecumenical prayer initiative called ‘Healing The Land’.

Indeed, the event, scheduled for Saturday, 8th September at Nutts Corner, is being marketed as for Protestant, Catholic and those of no denomination – an ecumenist’s dream.

Perhaps Nutts Corner is a very apt venue for an easy-believist event, not just because of its name but for its reputation as a place to purchase something cheaply. Read more

Presbytery Statement re Presbyterians attending the Papal Visit

Love for the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and concern for the eternal souls of men will prevent any Bible believer from union or communion with a Roman Catholic Church that remains as contrary to Holy Scripture today as it ever has been.

  • As long as it proclaims its leader as the supreme head of the church on earth,
  • denigrates the work that Christ completed on Calvary by the pretentious teachings central to its mass,
  • refuses the scriptural way of salvation that justification is by faith alone in Christ alone,
  • fleeces its adherents by means of an imaginary purgatory,
  • and offers indulgences with as much aplomb as Tetzel managed in Martin Luther’s day,

no true Christian should engage in fellowship with this system, never mind travel to welcome its Pope. Read more

A Tribute to Mrs Anne Ferguson

Given by Rev Ivan Foster at her funeral service in Lurgan Free Presbyterian Church, August 14th, 2018, when some 600 people gathered to sympathise with and support Rev Gordon Ferguson and his family in their bereavement.

I am not a member of Anne Ferguson’s family. However, we were both members of a family God gathered unto Himself in a time of rich blessing in the mid-60s down in Co. Fermanagh.

Anne was saved on 27th April 1969. That Sabbath evening was my first in the Lisbellaw pulpit following a month-long prison term in Crumlin Road jail. Read more

Our unassailable God

“There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD,” Proverbs 21:30.

The day following the sodomite “Gay Pride” parade in Belfast, (Saturday, 4th August) I went to God’s house much cast down by the news reports of the support given to that evil demonstration! In a land so blessed by God over the last 500 years and more, to hear of children and babes in arms in their hundreds being brought along to such an event and being used to ‘sanitise’ this defiance of the laws of God and of nature, was most distressing.

It was in such a state of mind I went to God’s house. But it was there that God had a word for my soul! Read more
